140/90 SONG LYRICS

Take This

My head is on my pillow and I'm sleeping away.
I'm feeling pretty tired 'cause I stayed up late.
The alarm clock's ring was enough to wake the dead.
As I'm smashing it to pieces this is what I said-

"Take This! Take That!" (2x)

I'm feeling pretty hungry but I'm running behind.
I pull into a burger joint and get in line.
It's almost my turn when somebody cuts ahead.
As I tapped him on the shoulder this is what I said-

My girl's just left me and it's making me sick.
She gave me an order and I didn't want to do it.
Feel the whiskey I've been drinking finally going to my head.
As I'm trashing the apartment this is what I said-

(Weatherbee)

Get Off

Get off the phone.
Just hang up, there ain't nobody home.
It's hard, I know.
She broke your heart, but it's time to let it go.

The sun is shining, It's a beautiful day,
But your heart is cloudy and you're sure it's going to rain.
You can't erase the image of her trying to explain,
But you think you'll call her up so you can hear it all again.

She said there's no one else.
She did it for herself.
No explanation's going stop your pain,
But she doesn't need a reason to walk out on your game.
Consider that your lesson, now it's time to do the same.

You say you can't stand the thought of seeing her with someone else,
But you keep making wrong turns and driving past her house.
Sit in your room, watch the clock on the wall.
You wonder what she's doing, you wonder should you call.
Imagine what you'd say if she should pass your way.
Imagine what's she's thinking lying in her bed.
You can't go on much longer living this way,
But you'll never get a life if you keep living hers instead.

Let it go...oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.(2x)
Let it go...

So pace the floor, bang your head on the wall.
You just don't believe that she don't want you anymore.
You want to say you're sorry, but it doesn't make sense.
There's nothing you can do and nothing that you could have said.
You know it doesn't help to go and blame yourself.
No time's a better time to make a change.
You don't have to sit and feel sorry anymore.
You ain't no more a loser than you ever were before.

Let it go...(2x)

Pat's Garage

After years of easy living,
After a lifetime of home sweet home,
Unexpected complications,
And I found myself on my own.
Now, Patrick is a friend of mine.
He came through when things got tough.
Handed me the keys to his garage.
Cleared a space for all of my stuff.

And I've got bags of inspiration.
Got a case of everything I know.
I've got boxes of experience,
And souvenirs from everyone I've loved.
I've got proof of my existence,
And all the mirrors for my mirage.
Got a suit of respectability,
And it's all in Pat's garage.

Like a train without a station.
Like a dog in search of a bone.
Like a man without a country
All over God's green earth I roam.
Now, you can look at my life with your critical eye
And try to tell me all about how it is.
I guess you must be thinking after all this time
I might have something to show for it, but...

All in Pat's garage.
All in Pat's...

And I guess I should have seen it coming.
Yeah, I guess I should have known.
Maybe next time I'll remember,
Everything you get in your life is just a loan.

Fester of Arabia

Fester of Arabia, standing on top of the dunes.
Mad dogs and Englishmen should avoid the sun at noon.
Avoid the sun at noon.
The sun sets all too soon.
Fester of Arabia wanders the sands of time.
Living a fantasy that's different from yours and mine.
Different from yours and mine, And no one seems to mind.

He left one day on a desert tour.
Something has changed, I'm not so sure it's me.
Fester (5x)

Meanwhile, back at the place where Fester's from, we won't see him anymore.
He's living a new life now.
You might remember, Uncle Fester had a job
At the convenience store.
No more good deals on cigarettes, fountain drinks, chillidogs...
No more Uncle Fester.(2x),

No way could I have imagined a day
when he would take it so far.
The All-American boy.
He gave up everything.
His flat in the city, His girl,
and his economy car.
No More Chinese take-out meals, porno Flicks, TV shows.
No More Uncle Fester. (4x)
Uncle Fester. (2x)

Fester of Arabia, Master of all that he sees.
Searching the desert world for a place in history.
A place in history.
Who would disagree?
Fester. (5x)

Take Off Your Clothes

Take off your clothes, Let me see what it is you are hiding.
Don't be afraid You have nothing to fear from my eyes.
My Daddy is a priest, you know.
I am not a beast, you know.
I just want to look. (2x)

Don't be ashamed, you know naked is nature intended.
I'll take off mine just to show you that I'm in good faith.
My Daddy is the Pope, you know.
I don't want to grope, you know.
I just want to touch.(2x)

Ohhhh, waaaa, oooo, lalala, lalala... (etc)

How does it feel now that you are no longer a virgin?
What's that you say, you want more and you want it right now?
My Daddy is a priest, you know. I am not a beast, you know.
I just want to sleep. (2x)

Dreamworld

Conscious. It's all returning to me,
wake up and smell the routine.
Not that I'm complaining.
Same thing, only a different day.
I can hardly believe
There is no other reason.

Then later that evening, while I am sleeping,
She comes to see me.
Find myself living in a dream world.
We go on a journey where I'm always learning,
Until the morning.
We say goodbye and I never ask why
In my dream world.

Watching as the world hurries past.
It's so hard to explain.
Where does it think it's going?
Working all these thoughts in my head,
Over and over again.
There's just no way of knowing.

I'm living in a dream world.

Long day. It's good to be home again
With a beer in my hand.
It doesn't get much better.
Ok, change the channel again.
I just don't understand
Why I keep on paying for this.

We say goodbye and I never ask why in my dreams.

Swingin'

Nothing is working.
Everything's going wrong.
It really pisses me off.
No cream for my coffee.
Now my patience is gone.
I think you'd better not talk to me.

Up on the wrong side of bed.
I've got a negative feeling.
Don't tell me have a nice day.
I've got your nice day swingin'.

Take this as a warning.
Behind the frown on my face,
I've got only complaints.
I'm looking for trouble.
Yeah, I'm making a case
For a miserable day.

I've got your nice day swingin'.
Nice day swingin'. (3x)

I've got your nice day
I've got your nice day swingin'. (3x)

Lucky

Last night I shouldn't have had me another drink.
I could have been stopped by the cops and taken away.
Last night, I really should have called me a taxi.
I could have got myself in a wreck and ruined my day.

One false move, and it would have been a real disaster.
One wrong turn, and it could have been a tragedy.
Bad timing, could lost everything forever.
But since it didn't happen that way, I guess I must be lucky.

Last night I shouldn't have made the friends I did.
I could have still been in the house when they raided the place.
Last night I should have been wearing a wrapper.
I could have knocked somebody up or caught a disease.

You shouldn't have looked my way.
The moment I saw you face I knew that something was wrong.
If I hadn't walked away, we might have made a mistake.
We could have fallen in love...

...consider yourself lucky.

I should've been wearing a helmet.
I shouldn't have been out in the weather.
I should've been looking both ways when crossing the street.
I could've cracked my head wide open.
I could've been struck by lightning.
I could've been hit by a bus and knocked off my feet.

I guess I must be lucky.

The Government's Out To Get Me

The government's out to get me.
Spies everywhere I go.
I wish they'd just forget me.
What they need I'll never know.

I want to tell you there's a bomb in my mailbox.
Got to double all the door locks.
And they're bugging my phone.
I wish they'd leave me alone.
They know everything I say, Everything I say today.
The government's out to get me!

I don't mind the country,
It's the people I avoid.
They say they want to help me
They say I'm paranoid.

I want to tell you there's a silicon chip inside me,
There to make me think I'm crazy.
They don't think that I see,
What they're doing to me.
Little do they know,
One day soon I'm going to blow.
The government's out to get me!

The T.V. newsman told me,
Better watch behind my back.
I built a bunker in my basement.
'Cause I know I'll be attacked.

I want to tell you there's a bomb in my mailbox.
Got to triple all the door locks.
And I'm loading me gun.
They'd better run.
They know everything I do,
everything I'm going through.
The government's out to get me. (3x)

Geo Logic

Restless waves travel far
Mountain stand defiantly
Neanderthal view the stars.
Never changing, so it seems.

But in two hundred thousand years
None of it will mean a thing.
All that time, just a blink of an eye,
Speaking geologically.

Warring Gods stake their claims
Beginnings lost from memory.
Enlightened souls preach their names
Build monuments to their deeds.

A watched pot never boils.
The hour hand looks the same.
No end in sight of our toils.
History's so slow to change.

Get Along With Me

Baby Get Along with Me,
Why does someone always have to be right?
If you would just let it be
We could be together tonight.
I don't want to bring you down
I don't want to get into a big fight
Always going to be around.
Baby if you want me.
Let it be, and Baby get along with me.

Only got one life to live.
I'm going to live it.
Got a lot of love to give.
And babe, I'm going to give it.
Why you want to waste your time
Trying to tell me what's wrong and what's right?
I'm never going to change my mind.
So Baby if you want me,
Let it be, and baby get along with me.

There's a whole big world to see
I want to see it.
Only way to be is free.
And babe, I'm going be it.
What's it going to be this time?
Say hello, or say goodnight?
Anything you need is fine.
But Baby if you want me,
let it be, and baby get along with me.

Pokey You Will Go

It was a cold day in December,
I had to work all through the winter.
I needed time for a siesta,
a sunny place that wasn't cold.

I told my boss I'll see you later.
He never had a sense of humor.
He said don't bother coming back here.
I flipped him off and hit the road.

I left the rain in Estacada
And drove all day through California.
'Cause I was headed for the border,
and I'm not talking Taco Bell.

I crossed the fence at Tijuana,
And got as far an Encinada.
And pulled into a small cantina
Out on the other side of town.

I ordered shots of gold Tequila
And chased them down with a Corona.
And then I noticed in the corner
A sweet bambina on her own.

I thought that maybe I should meet her.
So I said, "Hola, Seniorita!"
She said, "no habla Espanol -a!
And I would rather be alone."

I would not take "no" for an answer,
And ordered her a margarita,
And for myself, some more tequila.
She smiled and said, "Oh, what the hell."

We laughed and joked and had a good time.
I thought that maybe she could be mine,
'Cause let me tell you she was so fine
At least as far as I could tell.

Just then, a shadow filled the doorway.
It was a pissed-off looking hombre'.
He looked at her and then looked my way.
I knew that trouble had arrived.

He said "hey, gringo, that's my girlfriend!"
I said, "Amigo, what's your problem?"
He took a swing, and when I ducked him,
He hit some padre in the eye.

Into a fight the bar erupted.
The cops were called and we were busted.
But they were easily corrupted,
And they let everybody go...

Except for me, I had no pesos.
I had to use the telefono
To call a lawyer in El Paso.
And he said, "Son, you ought to know...

"If you are way South of the border,
And you are high on gold Tequila,
Don't try and hit on Seniorita,
Or to the Pokey, you will go!"

Tequila!
Seniorita!
To the pokey you will go!
